About Me

Hello! My name is Ben Cole but almost everyone calls me Benny now. Welcome to Benny Metals!
I have been in the fabrication industry for over 20 years now with no real vision of where I wanted to be or go in life. That all changed about 4 years ago at my day job when I decided that I am the one that does all of the work anyway so why can't I just do the work and profit for myself.
I have always been into computers, since my early teenage days. I went to college for Computer Information Systems but even at that time I had no clue what I wanted to do in life. I always took the jobs that were in front of me and I never really tried to procure a job that I would LIKE to have. So, I became a laborer. Haha. I started from the bottom doing the dirty jobs like grinding mostly but I would always look at the welders and think, wow, that would be so cool! The welders always got more attention than the laborers and I wanted that. Finally, I was on a path to at least accomplish something. I wanted to be a welder. This was roughly over 14 years ago now. I was lucky enough to be at a job where I could practice welding on my lunch breaks. I practiced every day for months. I kept begging the foreman to let me weld and he finally gave in and said "Ok, if one of my welders calls off, I will see about you stepping in." See the problem was that my foreman had no one to take my place as a reliable laborer so he was hesitant. But the day finally came, and I was able to step in and prove myself. I started welding more and then went on to get my certificate. I have been welding ever since.
So, I am a welder, now what? Here we are again, just stagnant. I have been welding for years but it still isn't scratching that itch! I still wanted something else. Well, about 4 years ago now it hit me. I want to have something of my own. Something that people can see is truly me, that reflects me! I started planning Benny Metals.
It took a few more years to really dial in all of the details. Making it legal, setting up a website, trying to figure out what sells and what doesn't. But here we are. I am doing it! And the thing that keeps me going, the scratch to the itch, is every time I create a piece of metal art for someone, I get the most honest, usually heartfelt feedback and THAT is worth the entire journey I went through to get here. You give me purpose, and I cannot thank you enough.
Much Love, Benny
